ASB Report August 2021
Abigail Thompson
Senior Class Publicity Officer
September 2, 2021
Position Assessment
This far, as the Senior Class Publicity Officer, I have worked a lot with my senior class officers in creating publicity for our class as well as with the Activities Director (Morty) in doing spirit counts. During the end of July and early August, I worked closely with my officer team in creating social media posts to publicize events such as t-shirt sales at powwow, senior sunrise, and pushing out reminders for our senior year such as the diploma name google form. One of the additional responsibilities for my position is to keep track of spirit counts and maintain the spirit board. During Club Rush, I kept accurate records of the spirit totals at the end of each spirit day and created social media posts to push out to our student body daily. At the end of August, I used all of this data to create a brand new and updated spirit board for the 2021-2022 school year. Outside of my position, I helped my class setup for Club Rush and powwow, both very successful events. I sold senior class merchandise along with my other class officers during both of these events. In my personal opinion, I believe that we sold many items and both events ran very well for it being one of the first biggest events we have had in a while. At the end of mid July, my class officers and I also held two senior sunrise events. One event was to tie-dye shirts for senior sunrise in which we invited our class and held the event at Emma’s house. Then, we had the actual senior sunrise event on the catwalk and we bought donuts, juice, and milk for our entire class. Some things I have yet to complete is publicizing upcoming homecoming events for my class as well as maintaining the spirit counts and board in correlation with each spirit day. I am also planning to start creating social media posts and flyers advertising homecoming. Currently, my next priority is to create an announcement form and social media post to inform our senior class about involvement in the upcoming homecoming events. I am also planning to work with my fellow officers in creating publications for our senior class merchandise within the upcoming weeks and handing the items out when they arrive.
Standing Committee
Currently, the standing committee I am a part of is link crew. So far, we have been able to coordinate many events in link crew. We were able to complete a training day during the summer to prepare for freshmen orientation. In my opinion, I believe freshmen orientation was very successful in light of the adjustments we had to make due to COVID. Link crew also helped on the first day of school with guiding staff and students around campus. Our most recent event was back to school night and we helped parents navigate the campus during the event. Overall, I believe that the events we were able to accomplish for link crew were very successful and I think that we have done a great job welcoming our freshmen to campus!
Special Committee
One of the special committees I was a part of this month was helping in preparing for the back to school dance, specifically publicity. I worked with Bryan to create flyers and social media posts for the event. I also worked closely with the spirit commissioners to create posters for the dance. I liked the flyers we created and they had very eye-catching designs, however, I think we should have printed them in a bigger format. Additionally, I helped wherever I was needed under the direction of Avery as she was planning the dance.
Mentorship Evaluation/Completion at time of Meeting
I really enjoy the mentorship program. Being new to the program, I was very thankful for this opportunity. I didn’t feel as lost or too overwhelmed with new assignments. I believe that my mentor, Kade, has helped me a lot. Kade has helped me ever since we were assigned partners at core camp. He has assisted me with my website, certain assignments such as understanding journal requirements, and more. The mentorship program is very beneficial and I believe that it should be used in the future for sure.
Concerns
One concern I have is certain people in class not fulfilling their full responsibilities of the position they obtain. Not only fulfilling the responsibility of their position but also just helping out when needed. For example, during Club Rush I noticed that a lot of leadership members were rushing around and trying to get things done. Personally, I was running between helping people set up tables, blow up balloons, and hang up sticky notes on the window. I was frustrated that when I went into the class during all of the crazy that I saw multiple people in the library just sitting on their computer or phone. I believe that regardless of what your position is, you can always help where needed and I didn’t feel like everyone was prioritizing to help set up for Club Rush. Observing the class so far, I feel that certain teams with more than one member such as the freshmen representatives need to equally divide responsibility better. I noticed this a lot during club rush and felt that some had more heavy work on them than others.
Positive Comment
I would like to leave a positive comment for Avery Redula. Avery has worked so hard in her position thus far, especially with the Back to School Dance. With only a few weeks' notice, Avery worked to delegate responsibility fast and efficiently amongst certain leadership members, as well as find a DJ for the event. She faced the challenge and didn’t let any obstacles stop her. In the face of challenge due to the dance being cancelled, Avery remained optimistic and is still working hard to put on the dance for our student body. Also, I noticed that when she was selling tickets she was very amiable towards students with questions about the dance and got a lot sold too.
Change
One change I would like to see is more overall effort of certain groups and committees within the class. I feel like for our next big event, we need to make sure everyone is helping someone and there aren't people avoiding having to do something because they don’t know how. We also have our mentors and can always help them out even if what they are doing is outside of our position description.
My Impact
I have remained to stay true to our Core Principles and follow them at my best ability. I feel that I have done a lot so far this year and have had an impact on my peers here on campus. Many of my peers, especially the senior class, have contacted me with questions regarding events at school and I have been able to assist them to my best ability. Also, I have strived to make relationships with new students on campus, especially the freshmen. I have taken the time to eat lunch with some of them and overall create a more positive environment. One of our Core Principles is 100% effort and positive attitude. I have thoroughly been following this and always make sure that I complete my responsibilities with all of my effort. I have maintained a positive attitude so far, even in response to the dance being canceled. Recently, I have been always making sure to try to think that things “happen for the best” instead of dwelling on the past. I have made close bonds with my leadership class and worked closely with them in order to revive our campus in response to obstacles due to COVID. I have worked my best to create a positive environment for everyone here at RHS. I often take the extra effort to make students or staff smile and just create an overall amazing atmosphere to be in here on campus.

ASB Report September/October 2021 Abigail Thompson Senior Class Publicity Officer October 14th, 2021 |
Position Assessment
This far, as the Senior Class Publicity Officer, I have worked a lot with my senior class officers in creating publicity for our class and planning events, as well as with the Activities Director (Morty) in doing spirit counts. We started off September with preparing for Homecoming. During the beginning of the month, the senior class officers and I created a sign up sheet for our class lip sync and homecoming float decorations. I made a social media post for this sign up event of the sign ups that later occurred the following week. After the sign ups, we started to plan and sketch out everything we wanted to do for homecoming. My officer team and I first started to prepare for our class lip sync. We held 5 practices at Emma's house for this event. I additionally made social media posts that publicized the lip sync event. After the lip sync event and taking the win, we started working on the PVC pipe poster. We then spent the rest of the week working on the poster for our window decoration and the float. We followed the same creative idea from our PVC poster for our window and added additional hanging birds and a Tiki Room poster. The class officers and I, along with some of our other classmates, took the remaining time of homecoming week to work on our float. We built our float based on the “Jungle Cruise” boat and reimagined all the details from the actual ride in Disneyland. After homecoming, the final results came in and the senior class won homecoming! Aside from class involvement and posting for my class on social media, I also had the job to take charge of spirit counts. After each spirit day we had during homecoming, along with additional red and white Fridays, and gold for childhood cancer awareness spirit day, I took the spirit count totals and calculated the percentages for the class that was in the lead. After every spirit day and totaling the percentages, I then created a post to push out to the student body detailing what class was in the lead. At the end of September, I took all of the percentages and updated the spirit board. The spirit board informs the student body of who is in the lead overall in the class competition. Outside of homecoming craziness, the class officers and I also passed out our senior class merchandise. I created a social media post to publicize that the merchandise had arrived and we would be passing them out. Before we passed the merchandise out, we did inventory of the items. We made sure that we had the correct amount of items and that each student got the size they asked for. Currently, we are finishing getting rid of all the merchandise and starting on Dude be Nice. Outside of my position, I helped with coronation, sold tickets for Cool Hand Lukes, and helped Avery with the BTSD.
One of the special committees I was a part of this month was the coronation committee. In this committee, I helped Mrs. Ochoa and Naomi Wilbur carry out and help with the coronation. Mrs. Ochoa put me in charge of making posters for the event, as well as one of the MC’s. I used Canva to make posters for each candidate to hang on the football field. I also made posters for the candidate cars during the parade for Mrs. Ochoa. At coronation, Avery Redula and I were the MC’s of the event. At the event, we introduced and read each candidate bio as they walked down the football field. We were also responsible for announcing the homecoming king and queen.
Mentorship Evaluation/Completion at time of Meeting
I am really enjoying the mentorship program. Kade has helped me a lot with answering questions and giving me advice about homecoming. Also, Kade and I ate lunch together and he gave me some good advice about life in general. It was more advice from a “guys” perspective because I was telling him a lot about what issues I had been facing with my boy drama. We also ate lunch with other mentor partners, Gideon and Anthony. This was fun because we all talked as a group just about future plans and got to really know each other better.
Concerns
One concern I have is the spirit commissioners. I have seen a lack of effort and not a whole lot of communication between them. They aren’t really organized when it comes to passing out the candy and some commissioners have more buildings to go to than others, which leads to them taking way more time than needed. Also, they forget to send spirit counts for quite a while which is also concerning because I need the spirit counts to do my job. I have heard that they leave a mess after doing spirit counts which is another thing that they shouldn’t be doing. I also feel like they don’t voice their concerns about having too many buildings to each other, which doesn’t help solve any problems. Their lack of communication and teamwork is leading to these issues. They should be able to work together to make sure the storage area for candy isn’t a mess, or help others out when they are feeling overwhelmed with spirit counts.
Positive Comment
I would like to give a positive comment to Naomi Wilbur. Naomi had to plan the entire coronation weeks before homecoming had even begun. She was also in charge of many other things this month such as the Cool Hand Lukes fundraiser, which added more things onto her plate. While having to scramble around organizing the fundraiser, ordering items for coronation, and attending every single lip sync practice, Naomi faced every challenge with a positive attitude. On top of all the crazy, she was on homecoming court. This is such a huge honor, however, stressful to get things done. This didn’t stop Naomi from following through with her big list of to-do’s. Naomi was able to be on court and pull off an entire coronation that was beautiful and ran so smooth. Great job Naomi!
Change
One change I would like to see is a change with our mentorship partners. I feel like we should change our mentorship partners after this semester ends. I have gotten to know my mentorship partner well, and I feel like it would be fun to meet someone new. I think it would be so impactful to get different perspectives from different mentors, rather than just the same one. This would also allow everyone to meet someone new and get to know more of a variety of people within the class a bit better.
My Impact
I have changed the world today by remaining optimistic and smiling, despite the adversities that have been sent my way. I have tried to create new relationships with my peers at RHS. I have also opened up to many of them more and not be as shy as I used to. So many more people, especially those in my class, ask me questions and talk to me now because of this. I also have made it a goal to help the underclassmen, whether it be in journalism or leadership, to get to know the upperclassmen a bit better so they are more comfortable around campus. I have tried my hardest to act as a positive role model to other students and let them know that they are not alone.

ASB Report November/December 2021
Abby Thompson
Senior Class Publicity Officer
December 9th, 2021
Position Assessment
This far, as the Senior Class Publicity Officer, I have worked a lot with my senior class officers in creating publicity for our class and planning events, as well as with the Activities Director (Morty) in doing spirit counts. We started off November with working on Dude be Nice as a class. On my own, I stayed busy creating social media posts for the senior class. Certain posts I made were for different yearbook announcements, throwback thursday, and senior merchandise final sales. Also, the other senior officers and I started working on Winterfest and prep for our class tree. We picked our final winterfest theme, “Mathletes vs. Athletes,” and started drawing out concepts for the competition. Also, we started planning for our class tree. We went to the store and bought ornaments, printed out pictures, to follow our concept of “A walk down memory lane” for the class of 2022. I worked with Emma to finish pushing out the final merchandise sales. We created a google form for people to claim the remaining inventory, then we emailed students to pick up their desired items. We are still working on getting everyone to pick up their items. Currently, the other senior class officers and I are starting to order everything for winterfest.
Our most recent event was back to school night and we helped parents navigate the campus during the event. Overall, I believe that the events we were able to accomplish for link crew were very successful and I think that we have done a great job welcoming our freshmen to campus!
Special Committee
One of the special committees I was a part of in the month of November was the snowflake making committee. The sophomores gave out snowflakes for us to write students' names on to be handed out during the warm and fuzzy week. I wrote nice messages, the various students names, and cut the snowflakes out to give out to students.
Mentorship Evaluation/Completion at time of Meeting
I am really enjoying the mentorship program. Kade has helped me a lot with answering questions and giving me advice about life in general. Kade and I have sat by each other in class recently and been very helpful. He helped me with my website and answers every question I have. Also, during the door decorating, Kade and I worked together a lot and helped each other. I really like our friendship that has resulted out of the mentorship program.
Concerns
One concern I have is the classes getting very nasty with each other during various competitions. For example, after the results of the tree competition, I noticed that certain classes were being very rude about not winning. This causes the classes to hold these barriers between each other which isn’t healthy.
Positive Comment
I would like to give a positive comment to Kylee Brown. Kylee has been dealing with a lot of different things for warm and fuzzy weeks and winter formal. I saw how stressed she got at times, however, she and her team pulled off amazing events. Winter formal was an amazing turnout and so many people had fun. Warm and fuzzy week has been running well, especially being held right after a big event that the sophomores just put on. I am so proud of Kylee and she is an exemplary leader!
Change
One change I would like to see is a change with how often we read “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff.” I feel like we should read it more often if we can even squeeze it in for 10-20 minutes once per week. I like doing this book study because it makes me reconsider a lot of things I am doing in life. I also like hearing the following conversations that come with each chapter.
Within leadership, I have put myself out there to act as a guide to the underclassmen in the class. Especially with my mentorship partner, I always give him advice with future tips in high school or just life in general. Also, I have reached out to other classes to help with them where needed. I notice how stressed we get and want to make everything as easy as possible. I constantly try to smile and stay happy for the people around me to brighten their day.

Senior Class Publicity Officer
February 10, 2022
Position Assessment
This far, as the Senior Class Publicity Officer, I have worked a lot with my senior class officers in creating publicity for our class and planning events, as well as with the Activities Director (Morty) in doing spirit counts. We started January off by going straight into all things Winterfest. We started part of this planning process over Christmas break. Along with the rest of the seniors in leadership, we spent a ton of time at Emma’s house putting decorations together for Winterfest. The senior officers were also in charge of the event as a whole. We had multiple meetings with Morty in planning Winterfest week and the basketball game reveal. To start Winterfest off, the senior officers and I went class to class crowning the candidates of Winterfest for each grade level. Immediately after, Winterfest spirit days jumped to a start. In the midst of all things winterfest, we also started having graduation meetings. Morty met with the senior officers and I to discuss our “to-do’s” for graduation and more. We started putting together ideas for our senior gift. We also set up meetings with Vasche to discuss grad night and Rangel to discuss the senior gift. On my own, I kept track of all of the spirit totals for Winterfest and other spirit days in general such as college spirit day and red/white fridays. Starting now, the senior officers are continuing to plan graduation and put together our ideas for the senior class gift. We are also still pushing out the rest of the senior class merchandise.
Within the upcoming weeks, I will be assisting with Link Crew in organizing the BBQ for 8th grade welcome day!
Special Committee
I was not a part of any special committee at this time.
Mentorship Evaluation/Completion at time of Meeting
I am really enjoying the mentorship program. Kade has helped me a lot with answering questions and giving me advice about life in general. Kade and I have sat by each other in class recently and been very helpful. Kade and I have been sitting by each other all month and I really appreciate when he is around. If it weren’t for the mentorship program, I don’t think we would talk as much as we do. Kade is always someone I can lean on to talk to as well as ask for advice in either school or personal things.
Concerns
One concern I have is students losing the motivation and drive to keep going. I have noticed that a few students are giving up and not trying as much as they did in the first semester. I have also noticed that students that used to always be bright, happy, and always the first to raise their hand have stopped that and keep to themselves. I don’t see the same determination I did in the first semester.
Positive Comment
I would like to give a positive comment to April Yan. April is just the sweetest soul ever and she is always the first to greet me when I walk into leadership. She is always there when someone needs her, even if it isn’t someone from just her class. April constantly stands as a role model and is always busy doing something productive. No matter who she sits by or is around, she fits right in and always lends a helping hand.
Change
One change I would like to see is a change with how often we read “Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff.” I feel like we really need those conversations and lessons the book study brings us. This book study helps me look at things in my life in a different light and a bit deeper. I think we should do this weekly. I also think we should do praises again. That really brought the class together as a whole and lifted our spirits up. Praises also acted as a resource for some of us to keep doing what we do and just overall made us happier.
My Impact
I have changed the world today by remaining optimistic and hopeful, despite the adversities that have been sent my way. January was a bit rocky for me. I had a lot going on, and a lot of challenges I faced. I tried my best to continue on and not let these challenges get the best of who I really am. I always try to be a role model to those around me and positively impact my peers. I hope to show my peers that challenges don’t define who you are. Even when you are close to giving up, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

This far, as the Senior Class Publicity Officer, I have worked a lot with my senior class officers in creating publicity for our class and planning events, as well as with the Activities Director (Morty) in doing spirit counts. We started off February with working on finishing getting senior merchandise distributed and meetings with Morty about graduation. The senior class officer team and I also assisted with distributing caps and gowns when they arrived. Also, all the seniors in leadership assisted Morty with 8th grade day. The senior officers have been working hard additionally to organize our senior class gift. For the senior class gift, we are getting signs to put out in front of the school in representation of each of the events we hold yearly. I have also been working in conjunction with the spirit commissioners to obtain spirit counts for the spirit days. I have updated the spirit board for the month of February and will complete the board for March and April this following Friday. The senior officers also held a meeting with the entire senior class, Morty, and other administration personnel to discuss upcoming events that they need to be aware of. Following this, the officers had a meeting with Ms. Ochoa to discuss baccalaureate. We also had another meeting to discuss Disneyland with Mrs. Vasche in which we decided to order muffins and water the morning of the trip. Outside of my position, I have been helping the class with the challenge. I am a part of the publication committee as well as the student appreciation committee. We have planned different designs for social media posts and posters to put around campus. Also, for the student appreciation committee, we will be giving out otter pops and holding a game at lunch.

Positive Comment
I would like to give a positive comment to Gracie. Gracie is always smiling and never gives up. I admire her willingness to share what's on her mind. I love listening to what Gracie has to say and how she never holds back. She is an amazing person to rant to and I just love the energy she brings. My life wouldn’t be the same without her influence.
Change
One change I would like to see is a change in the seating chart. We have been sitting around the same people for quite some time and I feel like we should change it up. I haven’t gotten as many interactions with the freshmen and I would like to sit by them before the end of the year.

This far, as the Senior Class Publicity Officer, I have worked a lot with my senior class officers in creating publicity for our class and planning events, as well as with the Activities Director (Morty) in doing spirit counts. I also finalized the spirit totals and declared the senior class as the class that is most spirited. The class will be getting a treat in advisory in the near future. I have also been working with the other class officers, Morty, and Vasche on senior class activities. The senior class officers and I have been working together to get Kona ice to come for senior yearbook distribution day. We also have been working on baccalaureate with Ms. Ochoa. The senior officers held auditions for a musical performance in the beginning of this week to have people perform at graduation. Additionally, the senior class gift came in and we will be unpacking it and finding a place for storage. In the beginning of May, the senior class officers purchased muffins and water for the Disneyland trip. The day of the trip, we handed out these items to the class. I have also created social media posts for all of the upcoming events such as distribution and baccalaureate. We have also been selling old class merchandise all week, with only a few items left. We are close to the end, however, the officers and I still have things to do. We have to finalize the baccalaureate program, finish helping Morty with graduation, and finalize the musical performances for the ceremony.

Concerns
One concern I have is the class starting to get tired and refrain from giving their fullest potential. It is almost the end of the year, and I am worried that students will start giving up and not caring anymore.
Positive Comment
I would like to give a positive comment to Emma. Emma has helped a lot and stepped up for the officers. She has been doing a lot, with me gone and Anthony at track. She does it all with a smile and only wants what is best for her peers.
Change
One change I would like to see is a change in the mentor partners. For next year, I think we should change partners at semester so that we can get to know other people in the class. I liked having the same partner all year, however, I feel like it would be nice to have a change.
